What is licensed is the commercial distribution — VMware Tanzu RabbitMQ — and what you are really buying with it is the support lifecycle: security patches and CVE backports for versions the open-source project has stopped maintaining, plus a vendor accountable when something breaks.

Commercial RabbitMQ is licensed per core as an annual subscription rather than a perpetual license, so the cost scales with the size of the estate you run rather than with message volume. Broadcom's standard channel applies a 72-core minimum order, which sets a floor well above what most deployments actually consume. AceMQ licenses beneath that floor, so a 20-core estate is priced as 20 cores. Quotes are per environment and returned in writing.

It is an annual subscription — there is no perpetual option for the commercial distribution. At renewal the core count is reassessed against what you are actually running, so an estate that has shrunk should not renew at last year's quantity. Bring the renewal date to us early; concentrated renewal periods slow quote turnaround across the whole channel, and there is more room to compare options with time in hand.
