AceMQ provides data engineering services for teams that move data between systems and need it to arrive on time and correct: pipeline and streaming architecture, change data capture, orchestration with Airflow, platform work on Spark, Databricks and Snowflake, and support for the platform afterwards. The work covers data architecture, data pipelines from source systems and legacy systems, real-time data streaming and the data warehouse or lakehouse your analytics reads from. Engagements are led by an AceMQ engineer, with specialist data engineers from our partner network where the work calls for it.
Is This You?
Pipelines were written one at a time by people who have moved on, and nobody can draw the whole picture
A nightly job fails, someone restarts it by hand, and the cause is never traced
Reports disagree because two pipelines compute the same figure from the same source in different ways
Spark jobs or warehouse queries cost more each quarter and nobody can say which ones earn it
An old Hadoop or legacy ETL estate is due to be retired and the target platform is not settled
Events from operational databases reach the analytics side in a batch that is hours behind
The platform works, but nobody is on call for it, and the vendor's support does not cover your pipelines
Outcomes
Concrete state changes, not deliverable counts. This is what actually differs about your Infrastructure estate when the engagement closes.
Before
The data platform is a collection of jobs with no single description.
A written architecture: sources, ingestion, storage layers, orchestration and consumers, with an owner and a failure behaviour for each stage.
Before
Failures are fixed by restarting.
Retries, idempotent tasks, alerting and backfill procedures that make a failed run safe to repeat, written into runbooks your team can follow.
Before
Stack choices were made by whoever arrived first.
A recommendation across Spark, Databricks, Snowflake, Kafka and Airflow based on your workloads and skills, including where the answer is to keep what you have.
Before
After delivery the platform has no owner at night.
Support or managed operation on the four-tier ladder, so incidents on the platform have a contracted response.
Scope
Batch, micro-batch and streaming patterns chosen from latency and volume needs, with the broker, storage layers and failure behaviour designed together.
Log-based capture from operational databases into RabbitMQ or Kafka, with ordered consumers and dead-lettering. The detail is on the change data capture page.
DAG structure, scheduling, retries, backfills, executor choice and the operational basics that keep orchestration from becoming the outage.
Cluster and job configuration, partitioning, shuffle and skew, cost, Unity Catalog governance and Delta table health, from health checks to implementation.
Warehouse sizing, query and spill behaviour, clustering and pipeline reliability on Snowflake, alongside the loaders that feed it.
24/7 cover for the open-source and platform components under your pipelines, with engineers who know your estate.
The Engagement
Every phase has a defined duration and a concrete artifact handed over at the end of it. You always know what stage you're in and what you've received.
We inventory sources, pipelines, orchestration, storage and consumers, read recent failures, and agree what good looks like. Work is remote and guided by your engineers, so we need exports and read-only views, not standing access.
You receive
The target architecture and stack recommendation, with ingestion, storage layers, orchestration and quality checks. Migrations are staged so the old and new paths run side by side before cutover.
You receive
An AceMQ engineer and, where needed, a partner specialist build the agreed pieces with your engineers. Your team keeps the business logic and the transformations, and we build the plumbing, tests and failure handling around them.
You receive
Runbooks, a walkthrough with the people on call, and the support tier you choose after the project.

Data engineering is the work of getting data from where it is produced to where it is used, reliably, and keeping it that way. The term covers a lot, so the table below shows the jobs we take on, the tools that usually apply, and the page that goes deeper.
| Job | Typical tools | What AceMQ does | Deeper page |
|---|---|---|---|
| Capture changes from operational databases | Debezium, Kafka Connect, RabbitMQ, managed CDC services | Method and transport choice, source preparation, ordered consumers, recovery | Change data capture |
| Move events and streams | Kafka, RabbitMQ, Flink | Broker and topic design, streaming job reviews, support | Kafka consulting |
| Schedule and orchestrate | Apache Airflow | DAG and executor design, scheduler and parse-time problems, upgrades | Airflow consulting |
| Process at scale | Apache Spark, Databricks | Tuning, cost, governance, implementation and migration | Spark health check |
| Store and serve for analytics | Data lake and lakehouse tables (Delta Lake, Apache Iceberg), Snowflake | Layer design, table maintenance, data governance, warehouse sizing and spill | Snowflake consulting |
| Retire legacy estates | Hadoop, Hive, legacy ETL | Inventory, target selection, staged migration | Hadoop to Databricks guide |
These tools overlap less than the marketing suggests. Kafka and RabbitMQ move events. Airflow decides what runs when. Spark processes data at scale, Databricks is a managed platform built around it, and Snowflake is a warehouse. A question we ask early is which of those jobs you actually have.
Most pipeline failures are not clever. They are retries that duplicate data, tasks that cannot be re-run, schedules that overlap, and alerts that nobody reads. The reliability work in an engagement is mostly these basics, done on purpose.
These do not depend on the tool. They apply to a Spark job, an Airflow DAG and a CDC consumer alike.
Hiring is the right answer when the work is continuous and central to the product. Consulting fits when the work is a project, a rescue, a migration or a review, or when you need a second opinion on a design before committing to it. A common pattern is both: your engineers own the transformations and the business meaning of the data, and we design, review and harden the platform and pipelines around them, then stay on call for it.
Typical engagements
Typical engagement scenarios: what the work covers and what it delivers. They describe the service, not past results.
Global Payments Processor
Right-sizing Databricks compute by moving scheduled work off all-purpose clusters and tightening autoscaling, instance selection, and idle timeouts.
Healthcare Analytics Provider
Migrating off the legacy Hive metastore to Unity Catalog with external location mapping, table upgrades, and a grant model that survives audit.
Digital Retail Platform
Fixing Delta tables where streaming writes and over-partitioning have produced millions of tiny files, stalling reads and vacuum operations.
Insurance Services Group
Named-engineer support for production Databricks job failures — driver OOM, spot reclamation, library conflicts, and workflow retry storms.
Telecommunications Operator
Fixing nightly jobs where a handful of skewed keys concentrate data onto a few executors and drive repeated out-of-memory failures.
Industrial Automation Manufacturer
Resolving jobs that fail after a dimension table grows past the broadcast threshold and the optimizer keeps trying to broadcast it anyway.
National Retail Bank
Reducing shuffle write volume and disk spill on nightly batch jobs so the processing window fits inside the reporting deadline.
Media Streaming Provider
Profiling a Spark estate to find over-provisioned jobs, redundant pipelines, and workloads better served by something other than Spark.
FAQ
Designing and building the pipelines that move data between systems and keeping them reliable: ingestion and change data capture, streaming, orchestration, processing on Spark or Databricks, warehouse and lakehouse layout, monitoring and runbooks. AceMQ also supports the platform components afterwards.
Consulting is a defined piece of work: an architecture review, a migration, a rescue or a build alongside your team. Hiring is continuous capacity. Many teams keep ownership of the transformations in-house and use consultants for design, hardening and on-call cover.
It depends on the number of pipelines, the platforms, how much is a review and how much is a build, so we quote after a scoping conversation. Tell us what you run and we reply to a quote request within 1 hour. We do not publish a price list for project work.
They do different jobs. Kafka or RabbitMQ move events, Airflow schedules work, Spark processes data at scale, Databricks is a managed platform around Spark, and Snowflake is a warehouse. We recommend from your workloads and skills, and sometimes the answer is to keep what you have.
Yes. The platforms we work with run on all three clouds and on your own hardware. Delivery is remote and guided by your engineers, so we can work inside a locked-down environment without taking standing access to it.
