Which kind of help you need
Match the provider to the problem. AceMQ is a Broadcom VMware partner (a reseller of VMware subscriptions) that counts your cores, prices VVF and VCF and returns the quote within 24 business hours. Redress Compliance is an independent adviser that benchmarks a quote you already hold. Rimini Street and Spinnaker Support sell third-party support for perpetual licenses, not Broadcom subscriptions. Get a second-opinion quote from AceMQ.

Renewal partner, third-party support or direct
Three different things get called "renewal help". A Broadcom partner, also called a reseller, quotes against Broadcom's program and places the order, so it is the only one of the three that can renew a subscription. An independent adviser does not sell VMware; it reviews a quote, and any lower rate it wins comes from negotiating with Broadcom or a partner on your behalf. Third-party support replaces Broadcom's support on licenses you already own outright, and it does not renew a subscription at all.
Broadcom also manages some accounts directly, typically the largest enterprises, and those renew with their Broadcom account team. The differences between partner types are worked through in VMware renewal partner types compared.
Best for mid-market estates
For a mid-market estate, a Broadcom partner that sizes the estate fits best, because the minimums, the edition and the term move the bill more than the rate does. By mid-market we mean estates from the 72-core order minimum up to a few hundred billed cores, with no dedicated licensing team; that is our working definition, not a Broadcom category.
AceMQ's own 2026 quotes show why sizing matters. A two-host estate with 32 physical cores is billed for 72, a 2.25 times multiplier before any rate applies. VMware Cloud Foundation quoted at 1.8 to 2.9 times vSphere Foundation per core on like-for-like one-year terms. Two one-year VVF quotes for the same 96 cores on the same day came in at $117 and $196 per core. A partner that counts cores, prices both editions and shows the term side by side addresses all three; the 37-quote study has the data.
An independent adviser can still add value once you hold a quote, but Redress Compliance's page describes enterprise clients and a fee set against savings, so ask whether it takes an estate this size. Third-party support suits only a frozen estate on perpetual keys.
| The job | Best fit | Not the fit |
|---|---|---|
| Get the renewal counted, priced and ordered | A Broadcom partner such as AceMQ | An adviser or support provider, which cannot place the order |
| Check a quote you already hold | An independent adviser, if the spend justifies its fee | A partner that earns the order, if you want a neutral view |
| Keep a frozen estate running without Broadcom support | Third-party support such as Rimini Street or Spinnaker Support | A subscription renewal |
Best for public sector and education
For state, local and education buyers, an authorized partner that quotes your sector and can meet a bid deadline fits best, and federal agencies that Broadcom manages directly go to their Broadcom account team instead. AceMQ quotes commercial, education and state and local government organizations in the United States. In its 2026 sample, nearly a quarter of the requests left after Broadcom-managed accounts were removed came from public-sector or education buyers, and they were quoted normally.
The other three companies' pages that we read state no public-sector terms for VMware. Rimini Street's navigation lists Government and Education among its industries, and Redress Compliance and Spinnaker Support say nothing on the subject on the pages we read, so ask each directly. Four questions cover what a public procurement tests:
- Can you respond to our solicitation by its deadline, and on our contract paper?
- Can a multi-year term be invoiced annually, and what happens to later years if funding lapses?
- Which Broadcom program are you in, and is that status current for our renewal dates?
- Is our account managed directly by Broadcom?
AceMQ
AceMQ quotes VMware renewals and new subscriptions for commercial, education and state and local government organizations in the United States, and refers accounts that Broadcom manages directly back to their Broadcom account team. A quote covers the core count (16 per CPU, 72 per order), VVF against VCF and the one, three and five-year terms, and comes back within 24 business hours. AceMQ's recognition as Broadcom's VMware Expert Advantage Partner of the Year 2025 for the Americas is described on the VMware licensing page.
Directory note. AceMQ's listing at expert.broadcom.com/partner/acemq, checked 26 October 2026, shows AceMQ as a Broadcom Insights Partner under Consulting Services. Its product list names RabbitMQ Community Edition and RabbitMQ for Tanzu and does not name VMware. Treat AceMQ like any partner: ask for the CPQ reference on the quote and for your entitlement record to be located before pricing.
AceMQ's published VMware work is renewal quoting and license advice on Broadcom subscriptions, plus support for VMware Tanzu. It does not list third-party support for vSphere.
Redress Compliance
Redress Compliance describes itself as an independent, buyer-side advisor and says it has no reseller agreements, referral fees or vendor money. Its home page lists Broadcom and VMware among its vendor practices, offers a quote check it describes as free, and states a fee of 25 percent of the extra savings or a fixed fee. A VMware page on its site says it counts cores, tests bundle fit per cluster and benchmarks the Broadcom quote before signing. The savings figures on its site are its own claims. It does not place the order, so you still need a partner to raise the quote.
Rimini Street
Rimini Street sells third-party support for perpetually licensed VMware products, including vSphere, ESX and ESXi, vCenter, vSAN and Aria Operations, with further products such as NSX and Tanzu listed. Its tiers are Rimini Support for VMware, which it describes as unlimited support with a 10-minute guaranteed SLA for critical issues, Rimini Protect for security, Rimini Consult, and a pay-as-you-go Rimini Support Flex tier for up to 200 hosts, sold in the US through the Rimini Store. The page frames the offer around perpetual licenses and does not say whether subscription licenses are supported. Quantified savings are not stated on the page.
Spinnaker Support
Spinnaker Support sells third-party VMware support for customers who want to maintain their investment in perpetual licenses, covering vSphere (including ESXi and vCenter), vSAN, vRealize Suite, SRM, VCD and NSX. Its page lists 24x7x365 support, ITIL Level 4 break/fix and security and vulnerability management, and states no formal response SLA. Its statements about Broadcom's pricing, including a claim that annual charges rose between 2 and 10 times, are Spinnaker's own characterization and the page cites no evidence.
Where AceMQ is not the right fit
AceMQ is the wrong choice in six situations, and in each one another provider on this page, or Broadcom itself, fits better.
- You are outside the United States. AceMQ quotes US organizations only and hands other requests to Broadcom.
- Broadcom manages your account directly. This is typically the largest global enterprises and some federal agencies. No partner can quote these, and in AceMQ's sample it was 1 request in 4.
- You want a neutral review of a quote. AceMQ earns the order it quotes, so it is not an independent adviser. Redress Compliance says it is buyer-side only.
- Your estate is on perpetual licenses and you want vendor support replaced. AceMQ does not list third-party support for vSphere; Rimini Street and Spinnaker Support do.
- You are buying VMware as a hosted service. AceMQ quotes licenses for the hosts in your environment, not VMware delivered by a cloud provider.
- You want a published rate card. AceMQ publishes quote ranges and no price list, and Broadcom publishes none either.
Check which Broadcom VMware partner program your provider is in (VCSP and authorized partners)
Whoever you shortlist, check what Broadcom currently lets them resell to VMware customers, because the Broadcom VMware partner program has been rebuilt more than once. The Register reported on 16 July 2025 that the VMware Cloud Service Provider (VCSP) program had become by-invitation-only, which significantly reduced the number of authorized partners. Partners that were not invited to participate received a notice of non-renewal and could keep transacting until 31 October 2025; after that they could only service existing commitment contracts for the rest of their term. The White Label model, which let smaller cloud providers work through a larger partner, was sunset on the same date. A further report on 31 January 2026 described a non-renewal email of 26 January 2026 telling VCSP partners their contracts would not be renewed, with open opportunities to be closed by 31 March 2026. Broadcom's stated reason was a focused set of partners and wider adoption of VMware Cloud Foundation.
This matters for a renewal because a managed services provider (MSP) or hosting company that sells you VMware services may sit on a contract that is closing. A partner that quotes licenses for the hosts in your VMware environment is a different relationship from one that delivers VMware as a service. Ask any provider which Broadcom program it is in, whether its status is current for your renewal dates and who holds the contract for your workload, and put the answer in writing before you sign.
When third-party support makes sense
Third-party support suits a frozen estate on perpetual keys that has no growth plan and no compliance regime that requires vendor patches. The limits are structural. A third-party provider cannot issue Broadcom patches, cannot add hosts beyond what the key covers and cannot move you to a current version, and your legal team should confirm that your license terms allow you to keep running unsupported by the vendor. An estate that grows, needs a vendor patch for a CVE or answers to an auditor has outgrown it. Treat it as a bridge with a defined end. The trade-offs are set out in third-party VMware support against a Broadcom subscription.
How to get a better renewal quote
Four inputs move a renewal quote: the cores you keep, the edition, the term and the timing. Whoever you choose, send an RVTools export so the core count is derived from your hosts, ask for VVF and VCF on the same cores, and have the one-year and three-year terms priced side by side. On AceMQ's VVF quotes three-year rates ran 15–18% a year below one-year. Start 60 to 90 days before expiry, because quotes are often valid for about 30 days.
Which provider fits which situation
- You want the renewal quoted and ordered, with cores and edition checked: AceMQ, which places the Broadcom order as a partner (read the directory note in its section first). It serves US commercial, education and state and local government accounts that Broadcom does not manage directly.
- You hold a quote and want it challenged before you sign: Redress Compliance, an independent buyer-side adviser that, by its own site, has no reseller agreements and cannot place the order.
- Your estate is on perpetual licenses and you want vendor support replaced: Rimini Street or Spinnaker Support, which sell support rather than Broadcom subscriptions. Rimini Street states a 10-minute guaranteed SLA for critical issues; Spinnaker Support lists 24x7x365 support with no formal SLA on its VMware page.
- Your estate grows, is audited or needs a vendor patch for a CVE: a Broadcom subscription, not third-party support, as the section above explains.
How we chose and compared the providers
We chose four providers because each publishes its VMware offer on its own website and together they cover the three kinds of help: a Broadcom partner, an independent adviser and third-party support. The list is not exhaustive, and other partners and advisers exist. We compared them on eight criteria: type, what each does on a renewal, whether it can place the Broadcom order, fee model, response commitment, who it serves, public-sector terms as stated, and when it fits. We did not score or rank them. Facts about the other three companies come from each company's own website, fetched on 26 October 2026 and re-read on 28 October 2026. Fee models and response commitments are given as each company states them, not as we have verified them. The mid-market and public-sector sections add AceMQ's own 2026 quote data, which comes from one partner's pipeline and is described, with its limits, in the state of VMware renewals study. AceMQ is one of the four and sells the licenses it quotes, so its section lists its limits and a separate section says where it is not the right fit. Check any partner's current Broadcom program status before you sign.
Frequently asked questions
Who is the best VMware renewal partner for a mid-sized company?
A Broadcom partner that counts cores, prices VVF and VCF on the same cores and returns written quotes for one and three-year terms, because on mid-sized estates the 72-core minimum, the edition and the term move the bill more than the rate. AceMQ does this for US organizations; an independent adviser such as Redress Compliance is the better fit if you already hold a quote and want it challenged.
Who is the best VMware renewal partner for government and education?
An authorized partner that quotes your sector and can meet your bid deadline and contract paper. AceMQ quotes US education and state and local government accounts; federal agencies that Broadcom manages directly are referred to their Broadcom account team. Ask any provider about solicitation deadlines, annual invoicing on multi-year terms and its current Broadcom program status.
Can a partner get a better VMware price?
A partner quotes against Broadcom's program, so two quotes that differ widely usually reflect different core counts, editions or terms, not different price lists. Sizing is where a partner or adviser can lower the number: a checked core count, VVF priced against VCF and a longer term. An adviser that says it negotiates a lower rate is making a claim worth asking it to evidence.
What happened to the VMware Cloud Service Provider (VCSP) program?
Broadcom made it by-invitation-only in 2025. The Register reported on 16 July 2025 that partners not invited received a notice of non-renewal, could transact until 31 October 2025 and after that could only service existing commitment contracts. The White Label model ended on the same date, and a further non-renewal email followed on 26 January 2026. If a managed services provider quotes you VMware, ask whether its Broadcom contract covers your renewal term.
Is third-party VMware support safe?
It is a legitimate service for estates on perpetual licenses, but it has structural limits: the provider cannot issue Broadcom patches, add hosts beyond the license key or move you to a current version. It suits a frozen estate with no compliance requirement for vendor patches. Have your legal team confirm your license terms before relying on it.
Who can renew VMware for small businesses?
Any authorized Broadcom partner. Small estates are billed for at least 72 cores whatever they run, so the quote depends on the core count and edition more than on the partner. AceMQ quotes US commercial, education and state and local government organizations and returns a VMware quote within 24 business hours.
